Growing in faith is about building a deeper and stronger relationship with Christ. Some great ways of doing this include participating frequently in the sacraments, developing strong habits of daily prayer, fasting, engaging in spiritual reading, or attending a retreat.
Two great starting points are The Holy Bible, especially the Gospels, and The Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Catechism is a long book. If you're unfamiliar with the catechism, you might try starting with the Compendium, which is a shorter review, or synthesis, of the Catechism. This is available on Amazon and can be found here. Or, as a great beginning resource, check out The Joy of Believing by Archbishop William Lori. This is an even shorter review of the Compendium, or likely the shortest/most approachable review of our Catechism currently in print. It's also on Amazon and can be found here. It was originally written as an ongoing series of articles for the Knights of Columbus. There are also many daily devotionals for Catholics. One great resource is Give us This Day, which offers a print and digital monthly subscription, offering Mass readings, a reflection on those readings, a morning and evening prayer, a reflection on a saint for each day of the month, plus additional prayers or hymns with each month.
Periodically, we hope to offer several resources to help us grow closer to Christ and better know His great love, mercy, and joy. Parishioners, if you have any suggestions for these, we would love your help! Please call us at 493-4553 or write out your ideas on the "Contact Us" page under this same "About Us" tab.
